V ~ My Fifth Brother, Jose

My elder brother Jose is simple, interesting and traditional. He has been hardworking and emotional. He was very much interested in putting 'a great show' with perfection. He also pursued his post graduate degree in Physics from SB College and became a lecturer at SN College and later a professor. He had a great sense of perfection and had an unbroken fighting spirit. Jose married Lissamma daughter of Mr. Antony Ittoop Kokkad. Her hospitality towards guests was special and laudable.
An interesting and historical event happened in 1971. We had heard about a toddy (palm wine) parlor on the market road, Changanasserry where my father's elder brother Thommachen used to visit in the 1910s with his friends. A bench was reserved for him and his entourage at the parlor, and nobody else dared to sit on that bench and drink. One day George, Jose and I had decided to visit this 'historical' site and have a feeling of Thommachen's bench and taste. While we were enjoying Thommachen's drink on the same old bench, word had reached my brother Thomas (Joymma) since his shop was on the market road. He dashed to the parlor in fury, and we ran away from 'history'.
